At its core, our material research studio is a research-driven institution dedicated to understanding materials—beginning with timber and extending into an expansive world of natural craftsmanship.
From colours, grains, scents and rarity across various woods to material studies in brass, leather, silk, blue-printed textiles, ramie, ceramics, porcelain, glass, rattan, bamboo craft, lacquer, pearl inlay, gold-silver filigree, wax-resist techniques, luxury stone, and metal leafing—each material is explored with scientific care and artistic curiosity.
We break creative bottlenecks by returning to the source: the material itself. Designers are invited into our research ecosystem through workshops, salon talks, and collaborative platforms where ideas transform into craft. We provide a space where designers and master carpenters co-create, experimenting with new forms, finishes and material combinations that redefine contemporary craftsmanship.
Our commitment extends to education and community. We regularly host woodworking events for enthusiasts, guided by seasoned master artisans, preserving craftsmanship while inspiring the next generation of makers.
